An abundance of natural beauty and rich history graces the Keweenaw Peninsula, called the Copper Country for the mineral mines that operated here from the mid-19th through mid-20th centuries. Hancock is at the gateway to the Keweenaw Peninsula, in the northwestern region of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Canal Run takes place along the beautiful Portage Waterway.
